My Climate Stories (“we”, “us”, “our”) operates the website www.myclimatestories.com and the associated personalised climate storybook platform (the “Service”). The Service is designed for children aged 5 to 12 in India and is intended to be used under the supervision of a parent or legal guardian. We are committed to protecting the privacy of both parents and children.

Accounts on My Climate Stories are created and managed by parents or legal guardians, not by children directly. By creating a child profile or adding family members, you confirm that you are the parent or guardian of that child and that you consent to our processing of the child's information as described in this policy.

We do not knowingly allow children to create their own accounts or to provide personal information without a parent or guardian acting on their behalf. If you believe a child has provided us information without parental consent, please contact us so we can delete it.

We collect the following categories of information:

• Parent account information: your name, email address, and profile picture, obtained when you sign in with Google.
• Child profile information: a child's name, age or date of birth, city or region, language preference, and an uploaded photo. A photo is required to create a child profile.
• Family member information: names, relationship terms (for example grandmother, father, pet), and uploaded photos of family members you choose to add.
• Creative inputs: drawings, photographs, and observations that a child or parent uploads as the “seed” for a story.
• Generated content: the stories, illustrations, and cartoon-style avatars produced for your family.
• Activity and usage data: climate actions logged, tokens earned and spent, badges, and reactions.
• Payment information: when you purchase tokens, payments are processed by our payment provider (Razorpay). We receive transaction records but do not store your full card or banking details.

Uploaded photos of children and family members are used to create hand-drawn, cartoon-style avatars and to personalise stories. Our avatar generation produces an illustrated character based on the person's name and profile; the original photo is stored for reference and to display in your private space.

Drawings and photographs uploaded as story seeds are analysed to generate a relevant, personalised narrative for your child. These inputs are used only to provide the Service to you and are not used for advertising.

To generate stories and illustrations, we send certain inputs (such as a child's name, city, story seed text, and uploaded images) to third-party processing providers, including OpenAI and our illustration provider. These providers process the data on our behalf to return generated text and images.

We rely on the following service providers to operate the Service:

• Supabase — authentication, database, and secure file storage.
• Google — sign-in (OAuth) authentication.
• OpenAI — narrative generation, image analysis, and avatar/illustration generation.
• Illustration provider — story illustration generation.
• Razorpay — payment processing.

We process your information to create and manage your account, provide the personalised storybook Service, process payments and tokens, maintain the safety and security of the platform, respond to your requests, and comply with our legal obligations. We process children's information on the basis of the consent provided by their parent or guardian.

We do not sell your personal information or your child's information. We share information only with the service providers listed above, where required by law or to respond to valid legal process, and to protect the rights, safety, and security of our users and the Service. Any story you explicitly choose to share is shared only as directed by you.

We retain your information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Service. You may delete child profiles, family members, and stories from your account at any time. When you ask us to delete your account, we will delete or anonymise your personal information except where we are required to retain it for legal, tax, or security reasons.

We use industry-standard measures to protect your information, including encrypted connections, access controls, and row-level security on our database. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we work to protect your information and promptly address any issues we discover.

Depending on your location and applicable law (including India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act), you may have the right to access, correct, update, or delete your personal information, withdraw consent, and request a copy of the information we hold. To exercise these rights, contact us at myclimatestories11@gmail.com. As a parent or guardian, you may exercise these rights on behalf of your child.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the “Last updated” date above and, where appropriate, notify you. Your continued use of the Service after changes take effect means you accept the updated policy.
